I Love Math Coloring Contest

  • Math Coloring Contest

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and ORIGO® Education, an innovative PK–6 math solutions provider, have come together to kick off a fun coloring contest for students in grades 3–12.

As teachers of mathematics, we empower students at all levels to better understand and analyze the world around them. The more we can support students make creative connections while engaging in mathematics, the more they will learn to see themselves as “users” and “doers” of mathematics. And it can be fun for them too!

    What Are We Looking For?

There are three main categories that we will be looking out for with submissions:

    •  40% Color Creativity–Is your art vibrant, colorful, memorable, or does it otherwise stand out for any reason?

    •  40% Math Infused–Write a math story problem (no more than a short paragraph) about the scene you are coloring. Be creative!

    •  20% Tell Us Why? –We want students to enjoy math and to make a connection between math and the world around them. Ask your students to finish this sentence and add it to their art. “I Love Math Because…” Then let them get creative!

If there are any ties, they’ll be broken by our social media audience!

*Winners announced April 21. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, age eighteen (18) or over. Void where prohibited by law. See official game rules for details.
