Supporting Students' Productive Struggle
July 20–22, 2017 • Baltimore, MD
Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor
An NCTM Interactive Institute for Pre-K–Grade 12 Teachers and School Leaders
Do you have a culture of productive struggle…
…in your classroom?
…in your building?
…in your district?
Does your institution prepare teachers for it?
This Institute will help you build and nurture a culture for productive struggle by answering the following questions:
- What is productive struggle?
- Why is productive struggle important to students’ mathematics learning?
- How do we support productive struggle for each and every student?
Institute sessions will align with the new Taking Action: Implementing Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices publications. In addition, learn strategies to take action in the classroom using the research-based Mathematics Teaching Practices outlined in NCTM's publication Principles to Actions.
