Thomasenia Lott Adams is a professor
of mathematics education and the Associate Dean of Research and Faculty
Development in the College of Education at the University of Florida. She has
been an active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics for 30
years. She currently serves as an associate editor of NCTM’s journal, Mathematics
Teacher: Learning & Teaching PK12. She was recently appointed to a
four-year term on the US National Commission on Mathematics Instruction, a
standing committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and
Medicine. Her most recent publication is a co-authored chapter included in Girls
and Women of Color in STEM: Navigating the Double Bind in K-12 Education (2020).
She is also a lead author on the K-5 mathematics textbook series Go Math! (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt).
