In this episode of Classroom Conversations, we will share how we leveraged students' concerns and questions regarding a future merging of two schools to develop a culturally relevant mathematical modeling task.
In this episode of Classroom Conversations, we will discuss a way for supporting students' imagination in mathematics. Specifically, we will focus on negative integers as a magnificent place for supporting imagination. What types of problems support students in inventing their own notations and strategies for making sense of negative integers? How do students invent negative integers and extend their number systems? We will explore students' thinking about integers and how they imagined negative integers and operations.
