Activities for Students: Using Graphing Calculators to Model Real-World Data

Berchie Holliday, Lauren Duf

May 2004, Volume 97, Issue 5, Page 328

Abstract:
A scaffolding approach to teaching students concepts of linear modeling. The activity gives students opportunities to model real-world data that approximate a line. Students use graphing calculators to enter data sets and find a best fit line. The article concludes with an independent project in which students utilize online databases, analyze data, and interpret results.
