Two fifth-grade teachers in Billings, MT, will collaborate with a faculty member and two pre-service teachers from MSU-Billings to design ten career-oriented math kits aligned with third, fourth, and fifth-grade Common Core standards. Each kit will contain a link to a video-recorded, 10-minute interview with a professional from the students' communities discussing the ways in which math is utilized in his or her career along with a set of inquiry-based math lessons appropriate to the career. The kits will be piloted and revised by teachers at each of the two participating elementary schools during the 2018-19 academic year and then shared with the district at large, which constitutes the largest school district in the state of Montana.
