Product Description

The 2006 NCTM Sixty-eighth Yearbook focuses on students' and teachers' learning in statistics centered on a set of activities. Topics include the relation between mathematics and statistics, the development and enrichment of mathematical concepts through the use of statistics, and a discussion of the research related to teaching and learning statistics. The yearbook articles cover a variety of broad areas, including sections on Learning about Data and Chance, Reasoning with Data and Chance, and Reflecting on Issues Related to Data and Chance. Articles focus on such topics as examining children's beliefs about "what is fair" and using simulation techniques in the classroom. The accompanying CD offers support material for many of the articles, including lessons, software demonstrations, and even video clips of classrooms. NCTM yearbooks focus concerted attention on timely issues by viewing them in depth, from multiple perspectives, through interdisciplinary lenses, and across different grade bands. The year 2006 marks the sixty-eighth yearbook in the NCTM yearbook series.

Technology-Supported Mathematics Learning Environments 67th Yearbook (2005)
NCTM's Sixty-seventh Yearbook reports on the impact of technology, furnishes a rich context in which to observe the use of technology to help students better understand mathematics, and gives us all a glimpse of what the future might hold.$19.00
Navigating through Mathematical Connections in Grades 9-12 (with CD-ROM)
Making connections becomes increasingly important as students proceed through middle school and high school. This book shows ways of embedding connective processes in instruction in grades 9-12.$43.95
Navigating through Probability in Grades 9–12 (with CD-ROM)
This book assists high school teachers in honing their students' thinking by introducing them to two approaches to probability and exploring both approaches in real-world contexts.$39.95
Navigating through Number and Operations in Grades 9-12 (with CD-ROM)
This book’s activities probe rational and irrational numbers, investigate properties of integers and complex numbers, explore numbers and operations embedded in physical objects, and show how simple problems can lead to sophisticated considerations. $43.95
Navigating through Measurement in Grades 9–12 (with CD-ROM)
The need for more sophisticated measurements has led to the discovery of more sophisticated mathematics. The activities in this book highlight this important idea and help students explore an array of measurement strategies and techniques. $43.95
Navigating through Number and Operations in Grades 6-8 (with CD-ROM)
Middle school students consolidate their understanding of integers and rational numbers, increasing their facility with fractions, decimals, and percents and encountering proportionality. This book shows how students can explore these important ideas.$43.95
Perspectives on Teaching Mathematics, 66th Yearbook (2004)
NCTM's Sixty-sixth Yearbook is organized around three aspects of teaching: foundations for teaching, the enactment of teaching, and the support of teaching nurtured in preservice education and strengthened throughout a teacher's career.$40.95
The Learning of Mathematics, 69th Yearbook (2007)
Furthers the discourse on learning with five main areas: how students learn, students' learning in school contexts, measuring and interpreting students' learning, teachers' learning of mathematics, and reflections on mathematics teaching and learning.$49.95
Teaching Mathematics through Problem Solving: Prekindergarten–Grade 6
This volume and its companion for grades 6–12 furnish the coherence and direction that teachers need to use problem solving to teach mathematics. $8.76
Navigating through Problem Solving and Reasoning in Grade 2 (with CD-ROM)
The explorations in this book include such tasks as determining the coins in piggy banks, matching two-dimensional shapes with three-dimensional solids, and organizing data about hats in tree diagrams.$25.95
