An activity about cell phone plans
focused on teaching comparing rates and making good consumer decisions.
Students need to look at an entire year of cell phone usage and figure out how
much that family would have been charged using two different billing plans.
Mathematics Detective articles are open-ended real-world problems that
encourage problem solving, reasoning, communication, and mathematical
connections. Mathematics Detective is a regular feature of Mathematics Teaching
in the Middle School and highlights activities that develop conceptual
understanding of mathematics topics. Activity sheets are included. Teacher
Notes and Solutions are also included.
