Edward Mooney

January 2007, Volume 12, Issue 5, Page 263

Abstract:

One student's solution to the Elizabeth's Long Walk problem. This problem required students to use clues about different walking rates to figure out the distance that would match the given time.

The Thinking of Students shares the thinking of middle school students as they explore and communicate mathematics. It highlights students' work, including projects, investigations, or creative solutions to the problems in the monthly menu. The department is a forum for sharing students' discoveries, thoughts, problem solutions, or even challenges. The Thinking of Students is a regular department of Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School.
