problem solvers: problem - Field day
April 2012, Volume 18, Issue 8, Page 464
Each month, elementary school teachers are presented with a problem and suggested instructional notes to use in their classroom. They are asked to report solutions, strategies, reflections, and misconcep¬tions to the journal audience. Embedded in the April problem scenario is the big idea of place value. Students explore the scenario of organizing pinnies (scrimmage vests) into bundles of ten, making it easier to distribute them to eight teams participating in a field day.
