    Taking Pride in Learning Mathematics

All students need a sense of accomplishment and success in math. For the struggling students at our small, rural school, this is happening too infrequently. As an unofficial T.O.S.A. I am passionate about quality math instruction at every grade level and providing equal access to a quality mathematics curriculum for all learners. By attending the NCTM national conference I can bring back fresh ideas and strategies to support our at-risk students. By learning effective ways to strengthen students' abilities to make connections, I can provide other teachers with strategies to create different entry points to the math curriculum for our underachieving students. Using professional development time to share, model and discuss these new ideas, I can implement school-wide strategies that will directly impact the learning of our students and begin to give them a sense of accomplishment and pride in learning math.
