Implementing the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice Online Modules consist of eight online, practice-based modules designed for teams of teachers to develop the capacity to support students’ learning to enact the Standards for Mathematical Practice. These modules have been developed by the GRIP Lab at the University of Michigan’s School of Education. Built on theories of practice-based professional development, every module includes opportunities to engage with scenarios of mathematics instruction, collectively learn to identify critical moves for supporting the standards, practice critical moves with their own students, and share their practice with peers and facilitators in order to receive feedback for improvement.
Those who register for the course will take pre and post assessments for the purposes of gathering evaluation data. If you are participating as part of a district of five or more teachers, a report regarding changes in teachers’ mathematical knowledge for teaching or dispositions toward taking up the Standards for Mathematical Practice can be provided.
