    Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases-Beyond Purel

    1.    To enhance the knowledge and ability of the grant recipient to develop a thorough understanding of Statistical Modeling of Infectious Diseases through participating in a 10 day professional development course.
    2.    Based on the greater knowledge of Statistical Modeling obtained through objective 1, the grant recipient will be able to develop a unit of study for her own classroom where students research and develop their own statistical models of infectious diseases. The grant recipient is also committed to working with teachers across disciplines to create projects and lessons where students are pushed to create and justify mathematical models that explain the world around them and further their understanding of a topic.
