Although geometry has been overshadowed by a strong focus on arithmetic and algebra, renewed attention to geometry in school mathematics has been spurred by the importance of spatial reasoning in mathematics learning and the growing power of dynamic, digital tools. Sinclair, Cirillo, and de Villiers critically review recent research on the teaching and learning of geometry, grounding their discussion in the theoretical perspectives and methodological tools that researchers have developed to address the complexity in geometric thinking.
