The Committee is composed of three appointed members from the American Statistical Association (ASA) and three from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
Committee Charge
The ASA-NCTM Joint Committee has a three-level charge centered around policy, teaching, and learning. The committee is charged to:
- Provide national and state-level leadership and advocacy to promote the connection between statistics and mathematics in K-12 education,
- Promote statistical and mathematical proficiency, appropriate pedagogy, and high-quality practice among current teachers, future teachers, teacher educators, and teacher leaders, and
- Support the development of appropriate statistical and mathematical materials, assessments, programs, and curricula.
